STARTING OUT

On completion of their study and training, graduate students often feel unclear about what’s next for them. How do you turn all this effort and committment into an income, into a career, into satisfying and fulfilling work? How do you begin helping people, which is why you started studying in the first place?

And, how do you turn these skills into a life-style that suits who you are as a person?

Indeed graduate students are often at sea, overwhelmed and less sure about what to do next than when they began their course of study. Do I get a job? Do I take any job that is offerred to me? How can I get into practice given I am right at the beginning of things?

Graduate students have worked hard to get through all their intense study. So it’s very frustrating and can be dispiriting when they feel underprepared, underskilled and overwhelmed when dealing with the complexity of ‘real’ client presentations and what direction to take their new career.
